Octoberfest has finally arrived!

This Saturday, October 1st is our Parish Festival. Please come and enjoy the food, the games and opportunity to make new friends. Our festival will begin at 11am and end at 11pm. Don't forget to say hello to me at the information booth. Our students will perform on the stage from 1:30 to 2:30. My wife (Mrs. Manjarrez) will be making the best burgers in the world at the "Burger Hut" so please come by and have a great time!

Day 8: June 21th

Today we had a great time in Rome, Italy. We began our day in the port city of Civitavecchia (yea, try to pronounce that one) and got on a bus to Rome. We visited the Coliseum better known by the Italians as the Great Amphitheatre (meaning two theatres or full circle theatre) and its neighbor the Arch of Victory. Finally, we went into the Vatican City (the smallest independent state in the world) and visited the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Ceiling and the largest church in the world Saint Peter’s Basilica.

Day 7: June 20th

Today we had a great time in Livorno and Florence, Italy. We began our day in the port city of Livorno and got on a bus to Florence, or as they say Firenze in Italy. We visited the Ponte Vecchio.

The Florence Cathedral.

The House of Dante Alighieri.

And the leaning tower of Pisa.

Day 6: June 19th

Good morning everyone and welcome to Cannes, France. We got off of the boat at about 8 a.m. and boarded a bus to Monte Carlo in the country of Monaco, home of the Grande Prix (Formula 1, Car Race). Actually, Monaco is the second smallest country in the world to Vatican City in Italy. There was so much to see and do but we only had about 1 hour to do as we wished for each destination. As you can see this church holds the body of the famous American actress Grace Kelly who was married to the prince of Monaco.

We finally ended our day back at Cannes, to shop and eat as quickly as we could. I was able to buy a regular tie and a bow tie which cost 100 Euro, equivalent to 165 U.S. dollars. Adios and see you soon.

P.S. please stop asking me about homework, trust me you’ll get it when I return in July.

We have finally touched the land of Gibraltar and gone in to the city. There we met up with a man named Keith who toured us around and took us to the rock of Gibraltar. We went into St. Michael’s cave and to the summit where the historic apes live. The apes are only found Africa and it is said that the Moore’s (Muslims) brought them over from Africa as pets. There is no species of ape like this in Spain which is curious because Spain is connected to Gibraltar. Legend says that when all the apes are gone from Gibraltar this state will no longer belong to England. Enjoy the video because in a few days we will go to Cannes, France.

Day 2: June 15th

Day 2 has been a day of catching up and getting out of the sleeping times of California. It is cold where we are since we are out in the ocean between England and Spain. We will be approaching the city of Vigo, Spain. The air is misty and the winds are coming in at about 15 miles an hour. Tomorrow, our adventure begins as we arrive to the Mediterranean entry of Gibraltar. See you soon and stay tuned for some great adventure.

Day 1: June 14th

Day 1 began in California as we left LAX at about 4 p.m. and arrived at Heathrow Airport in England at 9:30 a.m. (1:30 a.m. California time). From there we went on our way to the port city of South Hampton. We took a 2 hour bus drive through the beautiful green roads as you can see in the picture and boarded the bus by 1:00 p.m., boy were we tired. We will spend the next one and a half days at sea to get to our first destination. See you soon.

I read your postings and would like to say that by Wednesday March 12th we will have due dates for the initial parts of the project and if you at least get started now you can all be successful in completing the project on time. Also, if you do a google search using the key words "Factories of the American Industrial Revolution" you will find plenty of sites at you disposal and if you google image using the same key words you will find pictures of factories. I will conclude by stating that if you can't have fun doing this project then just do it for the grade and next time I will stay away from projects to boost your grades.
